Education Secretary Leonor Briones has tested negative for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Department of Education announced Tuesday.

The department said Briones’ test results came back negative on Monday.

The education secretary earlier went on a home quarantine after education officials were exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 patient.

“I will continue to discharge my functions as the government enhances its measures in responding to this crisis,” Briones said in a statement. —Julia Mari Ornedo and Tina Panganiban-Perez/NB, GMA News
