Pangasinan mayor, wife test positive for COVID-19
The mayor of Bayambang town in Pangasinan disclosed Wednesday that he and his wife got infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
"On March 16, my wife, Nina, and I decided to have a medical check-up and have ourselves tested for COVID-19," Mayor Cezar Quiambao said in a statement.
"During our 14-day quarantine, we confirmed that we were both positive so we received proper treatment from the doctors who believe that we have now recovered," he added.
The local official said his constituents do not need to worry as he and his wife are now doing fine.
He added that they will just have to undergo another two-week quarantine period to avoid passing the virus on to other people.
Quiambao then joined the massive call for the people to stay at home and practice regular hand-washing.
Starting Wednesday, the local government will open only one entrance and one exit point to and from the town of Bayambang to ensure that all passes through the decontamination area. --Dona Magsino/KBK, GMA News
