Mother in Biñan who recovered from COVID-19 thanks local frontliners in an emotional video message

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) threatened to take a 42 year-old mother away from her children in Biñan, Laguna.

But thanks to the hard working doctors and nurses at the Ospital ng Biñan, she was able to go home with her health restored and her hopes, rejuvenated.

On the first-ever episode of "Frontliners: A Brigada Special Online Series,” the GMA Public Affairs team followed the recovery of Biñan's COVID-19 Patient No. 2 who was treated at the Ospital ng Biñan for 20 days.

The wife and mother could still remember the despair of finding out she was positive for the coronavirus last March 24.

The patient also shared how the doctors and nurses have been caring for her and cheering her on, day and night.

Patient No. 2 was discharged on March 30, 2020.

While the doctors and nurses celebrated her recovery with a warm round of applause as she was wheeled out of the hospital, the patient also wanted to express her gratitude to the medical staff who nursed her back to health.

In an emotional video message, the patient said:

Anne Dionisio, an infectious disease nurse at the Ospital for 15 years, was touched by her patient’s heartfelt message and was just pleased to know that the hard work of medical workers in the fight against COVID-19 is appreciated.

"Hindi biro ang maging isang health worker. Bukod sa sinumpaang tungkulin namin, dapat ikaw ay may puso, dedikasyon, at pagmamahal sa pasyente," the nurse said.

To curb the spread of COVID-19, the government on Tuesday extended the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine to April 30.
