UST to hold classes in ‘enhanced virtual mode’

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) will deliver classes through an “enhanced virtual mode” for the upcoming school year 2020-2021, according to its rector. 

In a letter dated May 26, Fr. Richard Ang said UST will utilize online and offline teaching strategies to allow “increased flexibility in providing access to our students with no capacity or connectivity.”

In-campus classes will only resume once the government has allowed them and shall be implemented with strict adherence to public health standards.

“Our academic units shall release their discipline-specific policies and implementing guidelines, in consideration of the distinctive context and the unique demands of our various degree programs,” Ang added.

The rector also said there will be no tuition increase for the upcoming school year, while scholarships granted during the second term of the school year 2019-2020 will continue until the end of this year.

UST earlier said it would allow staggered payment schemes “in consideration of the adverse economic impact that the pandemic has caused many sectors in our society.”

The university’s first term will begin on August 13 and end on December 18. -MDM, GMA News
