Pacquiao planning to run for president in 2022, says Arum
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has claimed that Manny Pacquiao is planning to run for president of the Philippines in 2022.
In an undated video posted by talksport.com, Arum said Pacquiao will be the first boxer to be president of a country.
"The first president I think we’ll get as a fighter is little Manny Pacquiao, who told me, once again, I did a Zoom telephone call with him, "Bob, I’m gonna run in 2022 and, when I win, I want you there at my inauguration,' he said.
GMA News Online contacted the senator's camp for comment but received no response as of this writing.
Pacquiao, 41, won a Senate seat in the 2016 elections. His first term as a senator will end in 2022.
He previously served in the House of Representatives as congressman for Sarangani province. —MGP, GMA News
