Duterte extends CHED commissioner Ronald Adamat’s term until 2024

President Rodrigo Duterte has extended the term of Ronald Adamat as commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) until July 2024, the agency said Wednesday.

CHED Chairperson Prospero De Vera III announced the reappointment of Adamat, who joined the agency in December 2016. GMA News Online sought details from Malacañang but it has yet to respond as of posting time.

“Commissioner Adamat’s long experience in government service and his strong ties with the IP [indigenous peoples] sector contribute to the commission’s mandate to craft policies and recommend to Congress legislative measures that could help ensure that higher education is inclusive to all Filipino learners regardless of creed, color, or culture,” De Vera said a statement.

De Vera also expressed confidence that Adamat’s “significant contributions” to the CHED and to the state universities and colleges will be sustained for the rest of his fresh term.

The CHED chief said Adamat's advocacies include federalism, indigenous peoples studies, peace and development, agriculture, maritime education, and good governance. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
