The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has extended the deadline for several vacancies in the Court of Appeals and other courts.

The council moved the deadline from August 25 to September 25 following requests for extension owing to the difficulty in securing requirements due to the modified enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

The National Capital Region, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal were under MECQ from August 4 to 18 and have now shifted to a general community quarantine.

The CA vacancies are for the positions left by Justices Rodil Zalameda, Edgardo delos Santos, Mario Lopez, and Samuel Gaerlan, who were appointed to the Supreme Court; and justices Luisa Padilla and Jane Aurora Lantion, who retired last January.

There is also an opening in the Sandiganbayan for the vacancy left by the late Justice Reynaldo Cruz.

In the Court of Tax Appeals, there are two vacancies for associate justice following the retirement of Justices Cielito Mindaro-Grulla and Esperanza Fabon-Victorino.

The JBC has also opened applications for the chairperson and members representing the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, active law practitioners, and law students of the Legal Education Board.

The screening council reminded the applicants to access the online application scheduler on or before August 25 to register and select the date they will submit their required documents.—AOL, GMA News
