DOH identifies 27 more COVID-19 clusters, total now at 1,302


The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday said it has identified 27 more clusters of coronavirus infection, bringing the total to 1,302 as of August 18.

Seventeen of the newest clusters came from Region 4A, four came from Region 3, three came from Region 7, while the remaining three came from Metro Manila.

A total of 1,107 clusters were found within communities, 69 in hospitals or healthcare facilities, and 30 in jails and prisons.

The DOH earlier launched an active case finding initiative in areas with clustering of cases to control the spread of COVID-19.

The Philippines has logged 178,022 infections with 114,114 recoveries and 2,883 deaths as of Thursday afternoon. -MDM, GMA News
