CCTV footage of the first of the two bombings in Jolo, Sulu that killed at least 15 people has surfaced, according to Chino Gaston’s report on “24 Oras.”

While pedicabs were making their way through Barangay Walled City on August 24, a bomb was seen going off on the side of the road, where a cafeteria and parked military trucks were stationed.

After the blast, the street was covered in smoke.

Some soldiers were seen jumping from the military truck while the pedicab drivers increased their speed. Some civilians also rushed to the scene of the bombing.

The first explosion, which was a bomb attached to a motorcycle, was followed by a second one in front of the Mount Carmel Cathedral by a female suicide bomber.

Justice Undersecretary Mark Perete said that the DOJ has completed the travel and derogatory check on persons of interest in the bombings. He said that the results will be given by those doing the investigation.

Meanwhile, AFP chief General Gilbert Gabay said they are intensifying the monitoring of areas that may be used by terrorists.

“They rely heavily on logistics and support system, ano, ng terrorist organization, ng locals, and even ‘yung financing nila. So we have to look into many things. That’s why we’re calling on all other agencies, the general public, other stakeholders to work with us,” he said. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
