Malacañang extended its sympathy to the family of former Speaker Arnulfo “Noli” Fuentebella, who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 74.

“The Palace expresses its deep condolences to the family, colleagues, and loved ones left behind by former House Speaker Fuentebella,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said.

Roque also said they hope that Fuentebella’s family would “find strength in this time of mourning.”

“Former Speaker Fuentebella served the country and the province of Camarines Sur well. The time and effort he gave to improve the condition of his beloved district will always be remembered by his constituents,” he said.

President Rodrigo Duterte was Davao City congressman during Fuentebella’s term as Speaker of the House of Representatives from November 2000 to January 2001.

Apart from being Speaker, Fuentebella also represented the third district of Camarines Sur from 1992 to 2001 and from 2004 to 2010, and eventually the fourth district of the same province from 2010 to 2013 and from 2016 to 2019. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
