Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro "Teddy Boy" Locsin Jr. on Thursday said that it would be treason to postpone the 2022 elections even if it would be to keep voters safe from COVID-19.

Locsin made the remark on Twitter after Pampanga Representative Juan Miguel Arroyo raised with Commission on Elections officials if they would consider postponing the polls due to the pandemic.

“You don't cancel elections for any reason. That's treason. We are a democracy or a shet slave colony. Hold elections period. Those brave to stand in line and vote — even if only 12 — decide the next President,” Locsin said in a tweet.

“Elections = democracy or F--k U. You f--king sh-t,” he added.

Comelec chairperson Sheriff Abas they are not considering moving the 2022 elections to a later date as of this time.

"Hindi po talaga. Because alam naman natin that this is a constitutional mandate at fixed yung nilagay," Abas said.

For his part, Comelec executive director Bartolome Sinocruz said they are considering holding the elections for two days in order to control the number of voters.

Despite this, Abas said that the Comelec will take the idea into consideration.

The next election is set for May 9, 2022. -NB, GMA News
