DepEd official apologizes for DepEd TV math mistake
A Department of Education (DepEd) official on Wednesday issued an apology after a wrong mathematical equation in the agency’s television lessons went viral on social media.
DepEd Undersecretary Alain Pascua acknowledged the mistake found in episode 56 of the DepEd TV, saying that the portion passed through their quality assurance (QA) process.
In episode 56, students were asked to solve linear equation 2x=0. However, instead of using two as the divisor, the formula used zero, leading to an “undefined” answer.
The undersecretary said they will fix the video episode so that it will show the correct way of solving the formula once it is uploaded in their channels.
Pascua also thanked the public for their criticisms but expressed hope that they will not only focus on the mistakes.
