PDEA destroys P6.25B worth of dangerous drugs in Cavite

More or less P6.25 billion worth of seized dangerous drugs were destroyed in Trece Martires, Cavite on Thursday.

According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), a total of 1,394 kilos of assorted illegal drugs, worth P6,245,761,547.81, were destroyed at the Integrate Waste Management by thermal decomposition or a process of breaking down chemical compounds through heat. 

Dangerous drugs destroyed include the following:

• 879,655.32 grams of Methamphetamine Hydrochloride (shabu) worth Php5,981,656,176.00;
• 29,510 ml. of Liquid Meth (HCI) worth Php60,200,400.00;
• 160,000 ml. of Hydrochloric Acid worth Php34,720.00;
• 51,868 ml. of Safrole worth Php129,670.00;
• 2,000,000 ml. of Methylamine worth Php3,686,400.00;
• 26,000 ml. of P2P worth Php78,000.00;
• 164,500 grams of Potassium Iodate worth Php3,039,960.00;
• 300 grams of Potassium Permanganate worth Php6,000.00;
• 251,237.25 grams of Marijuana worth Php30,148,470.00;
• 29,177.92 grams of Cocaine worth Php154,642,976.00;
• 1,545 grams of MDMA worth Php10,590,725.81;
• 309.59 grams of Norphedrine worth Php1,547,950.00; and
• 0.02 grams of Ephedrine worth Php100.00.

The destruction was in accordance with the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte to concerned agencies that all confiscated narcotics should be destroyed in a week's time in order to avoid recycling.

"Sa pamamagitan ng pagsunog sa mga drogang ito, nais po naming ipakita at ipaabot sa sambayanang Pilipino na wala pong nirerecycle na nakumpiskang iligal na droga katulad ng ilang iniisip ng iba nating kababayan," PDEA chief Director General Wilkins Villanueva said.

"Ang aktibidad na ito ay ang ating tugon sa kautusan ng mahal na pangulo na sirain lahat ang nakumpiskang iligal na droga," he added.

Villanueva said the PDEA is set to eradicate another batch of confiscated illegal drugs on November 26. 

"Baka ito 'yung huling malaki kasi mayroon pa tayong 1.5 na susunugin next month," Villanueva said.

"By doing it nakikita natin na ito na talaga ang effort natin para magzero-zero ang ating inventory sa ating tanggapan at magagawa natin ito next month, talagang kaya natin makapagzero-zero," he added. — RSJ, GMA News
