Security tightened at Rizal camp for trial on '06 coup try

Security was doubled at Camp Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal on Friday as the Armed Forces of the Philippines prepared to bring several military officers to the area for a trial on their alleged involvement in the foiled February 2006 coup attempt. Radio dzBB reported that while security was beefed up in Camp Capinpin, motorcycle-riding soldiers also manned a checkpoint five kilometers away. Inspections at the checkpoint were strict as soldiers scrutinized all vehicles passing by the area. Military officers who will be taken to the hearing are Maj. Gen. Renato Miranda, Col. Ariel Querubin, and 25 other soldiers linked to the attempt to overthrow the Arroyo administration two years ago. Another officer, Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim, was also scheduled to be brought to Tanay from Camp Crame in Quezon City. - GMANews.TV
