Philippine COVID-19 cases top 387,000 with 1,772 new infections
The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caseload increased to 387,161 on Tuesday after the Department of Health (DOH) announced 1,772 new infections as 18 laboratories failed to submit reports on time.
The areas with the highest number of new infections were Pampanga with 154, Quezon City with 115, Laguna with 83, Baguio City with 70, and Manila City with 69.
Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries rose to 348,967 after 153 more patients recovered from the respiratory illness.
The death toll also climbed to 7,318 with 49 new fatalities.
“Moreover, 13 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths,” the DOH added.
The remaining 30,876 are active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine, 82.5 percent of which are mild, 10 percent are asymptomatic, 2.7 percent are severe, and 4.8 percent are in critical condition.
Worldwide, COVID-19 has claimed 1,202,824 lives and infected more than 46.73 million people. —LDF, GMA News
