There is no word yet from Malacañang on who will be the next chief of the Philippine National Police, according to outgoing PNP chief Police General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan on Monday.

Cascolan, who is set to retire from police service, said he is already preparing for his retirement honors on Tuesday, November 10. He expressed gratitude to President Rodrigo Duterte for giving him a chance to lead the police force even for a short time.

"We have, that's why we have a meeting right now. I'll still be retiring, I will be 56 tomorrow. I'm very grateful, I would like to say I'm very grateful to the President for giving me the chance to serve even though it's just two months," Cascolan told reporters in Camp Crame.

He earlier said he is still open to serve for the government after he retires as a policeman. Asked if he is willing to lead the Bureau of Customs, Cascolan said he had received no information about that matter.

"Wala po akong alam, wala po akong alam basta I always continue and work as if it was always my last day," he said.

Cascolan is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy "Sinagtala" Class of 1986.

Sinas as next PNP chief?

Cascolan was also asked about the rumors that National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Major General Debold Sinas was picked by Duterte as the next PNP chief.

He said there is no announcement yet from the President. Cascolan also noted that for his part, he was not asked to submit a list of senior police officials who could replace him.

"Marami pong sinasabi but I still haven't taken or gotten any note or word from our good President," he said.

Sinas, a member of PMA "Hinirang" Class of 1987, became controversial over his mañanita in May despite the enforcement of enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila.
