24 reported dead, 13 missing in Cagayan Valley floods —Arevalo
The Armed Forces of the Philippines said Sunday that the death toll in the Cagayan Valley floods from Typhoon Ulysses was at 24, while 13 have been reported missing.
In an interview on Dobol B Sa News TV, AFP spokesperson Major General Edgard Arevalo said that initial reports gathered from the different search and rescue (SRR) teams deployed in flooded areas in the region indicated 24 fatalities and 13 missing.
Arevalo added that search and rescue operations of teams from the Army, Philippine Air Force and the Navy have continued on Sunday.
According to him, SRR teams are concentrated in Sto. Tomas, Isabela; Sta. Ana, Cagayan; Tuguegarao City; Ilagan, Isabela; and Sta. Praxedes, Cagayan.
SRR teams have been also deployed to some municipalities in Cagayan, including Gattaran, Pamplona, Rizal, Lasam, at Alcala.
"Yung water SRR assets naman po natin buhat sa Naval Special Operations Command galing sa Cavite ay sa Tuguegarao City naman po ang kanilang concentration.
Arevalo appealed for more relief items and food packs as these are most needed by Cagayan Valley flood victims.
He said those who would want to donate can go to nearest military and police offices nearest to their area. —LBG, GMA News
