IBP: Probers checking if DOT exec's disappearance 'voluntary' or not
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines said it is already coordinating with law enforcement agents and the government’s intelligence committee following the disappearance of lawyer Ryan Oliva.
According to a report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, the IBP said it is not yet allowed to disclose any information as the investigation is still ongoing.
The IBP added Oliva’s family is also closely coordinating with police.
“Wala namang traces of violence so hindi pa rin malinaw kung ano ang sanhi, kung ‘yong kaniyang pag-disappear ba ay voluntary or involuntary. Ito ang tinutunghayan ngayon ng mga nag-iimbestiga at ng kaniyang pamilya,” IBP national president Atty. Domingo Cayosa said.
The Department of Tourism, meanwhile, urged anyone who has information on Oliva’s whereabouts to coordinate with the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
Oliva, who teaches law at the University of the Philippines (UP) and works as chief of the DOT's Legislative Liaison Unit, has been missing since Saturday evening, his family said.
He was last seen leaving their house in Commonwealth, Quezon City last November 21.
Oliva is a professor at the UP College of Law, teaching legal history and the law on agency and partnership. -Ma. Angelica Garcia/MDM, GMA News
