Sonya and Frank Gregorio’s grieving family can’t sleep, says official
The bereaved relatives of the mother and son killed by a cop over the weekend have been having trouble sleeping after witnessing their murder, a Tarlac official said Wednesday.
According to Emil Sumangil’s “24 Oras” report, authorities from the provincial government of Tarlac have reached out to the family of Sonya and Frank Gregorio, who were shot dead by their neighbor, Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca.
“Nakausap po namin sila kasama ng mental health team ng Tarlac Drug Recovery Clinic po. So far, hindi po nakakatulog masyado ‘yung pamilya… kasi siyempre sa nangyari nga po,” Tarlac incident commander Cheryl Sembrano said.
“Pero gano’n pa man po, kinausap po namin sila, binigyan po namin sila ng initial intervention po,” she added.
Philippine National Police chief Police General Debold Sinas earlier said he would ask the mayor of Paniqui, the Gregorios’ hometown, to provide professional assistance to those witnessed the gruesome shooting.
“Hindi lang po sa biktima. We’re going to provide support for both parties o kahit sino pa ang mangangailangan,” a Tarlac official said.
Nuezca opened fire on the victims after a heated argument over the use of an improvised firecracker. The shooting was captured on video.
He was indicted on two counts of murder on Monday. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
