Hospitals raise Code White ahead of Salubong 2021

Hospitals are already on code white alert for victims of firecrackers in the New Year amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a 24 Oras report by Raffy Tima on Friday, Dr. Willie Saludares, ER head of the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) in Quezon City showed the hospital's preparations for those who will be injured by firecrackers.

These include their equipment, as well as eggs for patients who swallowed watusi.

Tables were also prepared where victims will be treated, as well as their x-ray machine.

"Meron na po kaming naka-ready na stretchers para po sa mga maaaring i-admit na pasyente para madala kung saan man sila kailangang dalhin, sa operating room or kung kailangan pa ng ibang eksaminasyon at hindi sila makagalaw ng sarili nila," Saludares said.

The ER for fireracker victims was separate from the emergency room used to treat COVID-19 victims.

Medical staff are wearing their full personal protective equipment (PPE) as they expect patients to come from different areas.

A “Code White Alert” means that all hospital personnel are on standby for deployment and augmentation for medical and other services as necessary.

Cases of firecracker-related injuries continued to decline in the past years at the EAMC.
