Cop kidnapped by 10 armed men in Manila

A police officer who was stationed alone at a post in Binondo, Manila was kidnapped on Saturday by at least 10 gunmen, according to Jun Veneracion’s report on “24 Oras Weekend.”

CCTV footage acquired by the Manila Police District (MPD) showed armed men rushing Corporal Alan Hilario. The MPD shared the footage, which will be used in an investigation, with GMA News.

“So makikita natin sa CCTV na nire-review natin na more or less more than 10 na naka-black, naka-hood na male captors ang kumuha sa kaniya. Planado ito,” MPD District DIrector Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco said.

Witnesses said the suspects, who were armed with weapons of various calibers, jumped out of two vehicles and rushed Hilario.

“Ang nakita ko sir, tinutukan yung pulis na mahaba na baril sabay ano sa kaniya, kaladkaad papunta sa loob ng sasakyan,” a witness said.

“Walang sigawan. Parang silent lang siya. Bigla-biglaan lang,” another witness added.

In the CCTV video, the suspects seemed to be looking for something as they searched the compartment of Hilario's motorcycle before fleeing.

Hilario joined the Philippine National Police in 2014. He had no bad makrs on his record, except for one administrative case.

“Ang kaniyang parang naging offense lang noon, eh ‘yung administrative case niya na late siya sa pag attend sa mga seminar, so na reprimand lang siya,” Francisco said.

The kidnappers had yet to contact Hilario’s wife.

“Balik niyo na po ‘yung asawa ko. Wala namang ginagawang masama sa inyo. Inaantay na po nung mga anak namin ‘yung daddy nila,” Marifrance Gaspar, the wife, said.

The family of the victim expressed their confusion over the kidnapping.

“Nangyari 'yung pagdukot siya lang mag isa,” Cristalyn, the victim’s sister, said.

Francisco, meanwhile, said the matter was being investigated, and Hilario’s commander was also being questioned.

“’Isa ‘yun sa tinitignang lapses ng station commander kung bakit nag iisa siya. So ang pinaka minimum deployment namin doon dalawa,” he said. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
