Separate fire incidents destroy over 100 houses in NCR, Cavite

Separate fire incidents in the National Capital Region and in the province of Cavite left hundreds of residents homeless on Tuesday.

"Unang Balita" reported on Wednesday that in Quezon City seven houses were destroyed by a fire that broke out at about 8:30 p.m. at Riverside in Barangay Sauyo.

Firefighters battled for an hour the fire that devoured houses made of light materials, the report said.

No one was reported hurt in the fire believed to have originated from candles two children were seen playing, based on some residents' account.

Affected families are now being served at the Sauyo Elementary School, the report added.

Also on Tuesday, a fire in Barangay Panapaan III, Bacoor, Cavite destroyed 100 houses made of light materials.

Firefighters were quoted as saying their fire machines had a hard time penetrating the affected area due to narrow streets.

Bacoor fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze that left an estimated P500,000 damage to property. —LBG, GMA News
