Vice President Leni Robredo has received a children’s book about herself and her late father for her 56th birthday on Friday.

In a Facebook post, Robredo described the book, "Dancing Waters," published by Adarna Books, as a "perfect birthday gift."

She said as a fan of Adarna books, being featured in the book is an honor as it gives her the platform to pay a tribute to her father, the late Antonio Robredo, who like her was a lawyer.

“When Yvette [Fernandez, author] informed me a few months ago that she’s doing a collaboration with Adarna and coming out with a Children’s Book on me, I was floored. Yesterday, the eve of my birthday, I got my copy of Dancing Waters. What a perfect birthday gift,” she said.

“This is very special because it is actually a story of how my Dad was my first teacher in kindness and compassion. The title was derived from my story that when I was growing up in Naga, my favorite activity with my Dad was watching the dancing fountain in front of the old PNB Building while eating peanuts bought from the nearby kiosks at the Plaza Rizal,” she added.

The Vice President also said she took images of the book and sent them to her siblings, and that they felt nostalgic.

“I also love the fact that, through this book, I was able to pay tribute to my Dad, who believed in me. He was the one who taught us selflessness, generosity, and the responsibility to take care of those who need help," she said.

Fernandez also did a children's book on Robredo's husband, the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, a 2004 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee for Government Service. —Llanesca T. Panti/KBK, GMA News
