‘Postcrossing’ helps woman deal with mental stress amid COVID-19 pandemic
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic during which people under quarantine have been shut off from the rest of the world, this woman said receiving postcards from across the globe helped her deal with her mental stress.
According to Vonne Aquino’s report on “State of the Nation,” this was called Postcrossing - receiving and sending of postcards to random individuals.
“It helps with my mental stress, no. The linear thoughts, writing your thoughts on a postcard. We also get to receive letters or postcards coming from other people also coping with this pandemic,” Sibelle Estrada said.
“Like, for example, they tell us their daily activities and how different it was from their lives before the pandemic,” she added.
On the website: www.postcrossing.com, individuals may create an account and receive addresses where postcards can be sent. The applicants may also receive postcards from other postcrossers.
Before the pandemic, Estrada said she received 40 up to 50 postcards weekly. This decreased to five to 15 postcards due to the limitations caused by lockdowns.
Estrada said that the effort of writing and sending postcards was deeply appreciated.
“May effort on how she wrote the happy valentine. She chose the color also. I really appreciate small things like this. Tapos may sticker din,” Estrada said.
