New Navy chief Bordado vows to continue development, modernization efforts
The new Flag Officer-in-Command of the Philippine Navy Rear Admiral Adeluis Bordado on Tuesday assured he will continue efforts to pursue the development and modernization of the organization.
During the change of command and retirement ceremony at the Navy’s headquarters in Manila, Bordado assumed the top post in the organization replacing Vice Admiral Giovanni Carlo Bacordo.
“For the Philippine Navy to sustain its organizational development and modernization path, it is my responsibility to continue what our outgoing FOIC, Vice Adm. Giovanni Bacordo and his predecessors have already started,” he said.
“As we pursue continuity in our initiatives and in our growth as an organization, change will be an inevitable effect and end-point. Your Philippine Navy will be steady on course, full speed ahead”, he added.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana attended the event as the presiding officer of the change of command ceremony.
Lorenzana thanked Bacordo for his “excellent” leadership in the Navy amid a “challenging yet opportune time.”
He also congratulated Bordado for his designation as the new Navy chief. He advised Bordado to “build upon the foundations laid by your predecessors while imprinting your own brand of leadership…”
“…Be the strength at all times to our sailors and marines, civilian human resource, and their families as the Philippine Navy continues to navigate the volatile security environment.”
Armed Forces of the Philippines chief General Cirilito Sobejana on Tuesday said Bordado has been designated as the next chief of the Philippine Navy.
In a statement, the AFP welcomed Bordado, a naval officer who passed through different command, leadership, management, and staff positions not only in the Navy but also in the AFP. —KG, GMA News
