PNP-PDEA seize P58-M worth of shabu, nab 5 suspects in Cavite ops
Around 8.5 kilograms of shabu worth P58 million were seized in a joint drug buy-bust operation in Imus, Cavite on Saturday, the Manila Public Information Office said on Monday.
In a statement, the Manila PIO said the Manila Police District (MPD) Drug Enforcement Unit, in coordination with other agencies and police units, arrested the five suspects.
They were identified as Tamano Daud, Ismael Daud, Norma Maguid, Bainor Maguid, and Omar Rediya.
MPD chief Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco said the suspects were members of the Tamano Drug Group distributing illegal drugs in Metro Manila, Quezon City, and Rizal Province.
The drug gang had links to Montasir Sabal, the former mayor of a town in Maguindao.
Sabal, who had been tagged in the 2016 bombing incident in Davao City, was shot dead while allegedly trying to shoot it out with his police escorts in a bid to escape on Thursday.
Meanwhile, among the items confiscated from the Cavite operation were:
- 13 pcs heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets with a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu
- several pcs of colored plastics with a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu
- 10 pcs 1000 bill utilized as buy-bust money
- 40 pcs 1000 bill utilized as boodle money
- 1 Glock 17 9mm pistol
- 1 Kosnor London Chrome cal 45 pistol
- several magazines and ammunitions of different calibers
- drug paraphernalia
The suspects will face cases for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. — Joviland Rita/DVM, GMA News
