Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra admitted on Friday that Peter Lim is “good at hiding himself” from the law, as the businessman is still at large nearly three years after a court found a basis to put him on trial over drug charges.

Lim is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by a Makati City court in August 2018 for a case for conspiracy to commit illegal drug trading. He is currently an internationally wanted fugitive as he has been on the INTERPOL’s red notice list since March 2019.

“We really have no information on whether Peter Go Lim has left the country or is still very much around. One thing is sure, though, he is good at hiding himself, probably using his money to pay people to cover him,” Guevarra told reporters in a message, when asked if the government would probe the possibility that Lim could have used his influence to leave the country.

“The NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) has been assisting the police in hunting him. Sooner or later, the long arm of the law will snare this fugitive,” he added.

Lim’s co-accused in the case include self-confessed drug distributor Kerwin Espinosa, convicted drug lord Peter Co, and several others.

A panel of prosecutors deemed Espinosa's admission before the Senate sufficient and his aide Marcelo Adorco's positive identification of Lim as one of the former's drug suppliers.

In 2017, Lim claimed there was “no credible proof” of his involvement in any transaction involving illegal drugs. —LBG, GMA News
