Recto says he may seek House seat in Eleksyon 2022 as wife Vilma eyes Senate run

Deputy Speaker Vilma Santos-Recto is open to running for senator in the 2022 elections while her husband, Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto, may run for a House seat.

"We've been discussing that here in the house if she wants to run for the Senate. That's a possibility. She may run for the Senate, I might take her place in the House as well," Sen. Recto told ANC on Tuesday.

Recto said they would finalize their decision after a month.

"We're watching developments, maybe within a month and a half or two months, we'll decide on that. We've begun discussing it," he said.

Recto will be ending his two consecutive terms in the Senate in 2022. He was elected for his second round in the Senate in 2010.

Under the 1987 Constitution, a senator’s term of office runs for six years and they are only allowed to run for two consecutive terms. —KBK, GMA News
