PDP-Laban mulls fielding 7 Cabinet execs in senatorial lineup —official

Around six to seven Cabinet secretaries of the Duterte administration are being considered for the ruling party PDP-Laban's senatorial slate in Eleksyon 2022, party's secretary-general lawyer Melvin Matibag said Monday.

In a text message, Matibag said the party is mulling to include six to seven Cabinet members, two to three returning senators and two to three reelectionists in the senatorial slate.

He added that governors and congressmen are also among the candidates in the senatorial slate.

On publicly announcing the names of these candidates, Matibag said they are eyeing to do so during the party's national convention on September 8.

"Hopefully, we can announce on Sept. 8 or a few days after the convention," he wrote.

The national council of PDP-Laban had nominated Senator Christopher “Bong” Go and President Rodrigo Duterte for president and vice president in next year's elections. 

Amid the ongoing rift in the ruling party, Matibag said Senator Manny Pacquiao can still be nominated as PDP-Laban's standard bearer.  —LDF, GMA News
