Former DOH Sec. Garin tests positive for COVID-19

Iloilo 1st District Representative and former Department of Health secretary Janette Garin on Wednesday said she tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement, Garin said she was advised by her  doctor to be on home quarantine as her symptoms are mild such as cold, cough, fever, and chills.

“Despite following the minimum health protocols and being extra cautious, I tested positive for COVID-19,” she said.

Garin, who is fully vaccinated, added that she will be under strict monitoring as she is tachycardic or has a fast heart rate.

“It is fortunate that I am fully vaccinated. I can sleep soundly with the hope that this will not be severe despite my pre-existing conditions: asthma, hypertension and Raynaud's disease,” she said.

According to her, she already informed her close contacts to be on quarantine and watch out for symptoms.

“Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nagdadasal para sa aking kalusugan at recovery (Thank you to all those who are praying for my health and recovery). Stay safe, everyone," Garin added. —Joviland Rita, KG, GMA News
