Over 631K workers regularized after DOLE's inspection on companies —Bello
More than 631,000 contractual workers have been regularized after the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) conducted an inspection on different companies, according to Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
Reporting to Duterte during a Monday night meeting, Bello said the hiring of 710 additional labor inspectors resulted in the regularization of more workers.
“Mahigit 379,000 na kumpanya sa buong bansa ang na-inspect ng DOLE na nag-resulta sa regularization ng mahigit 631,000 workers,” he told Duterte.
(Over 379,000 companies nationwide have been inspected by the DOLE that resulted to the regularization of more than 631,000 workers.)
Aside from this, Bello also reported that over 540,000 labor disputes have been resolved favoring more than 2 million workers with worth around P99 billion in rewards.
In July, Bello said DOLE is still pushing to fulfill Duterte's 2016 campaign promise to end labor contractualization in the country.
Bello said he signed a letter addressed to the President "recommending the issuance of certification on "anti-endo (end of contract)" bill pending before the Senate.”
In July 2019, Duterte vetoed the Security of Tenure Bill, which aimed to eliminate subcontracting of labor and limit job contracting to licensed and specialized services.
The measure also sought to classify workers into regular and probationary employees and treat project and seasonal employees as regular employees. —KBK, GMA News
