77% of Philippine COVID-19 ICU beds occupied –DOH
The Department of Health reported on Sunday that 77% of COVID-19 intensive care unit beds across the Philippines were utilized.
The latest data from the DOH showed that 78% of the total 1,400 ICU beds in the National Capital Region were also occupied, placing it under the high-risk category.
An occupancy rate was considered high-risk if it is over 70% but less than 85%.
Seventy-three percent of the 16,000 ward beds nationwide were also utilized, while the 4,400 ward beds in the capital region were 72% occupied.
Further, 57% of the country’s 3,300 mechanical ventilators were in use, while 61% of the 1,200 ventilators in Metro Manila were occupied.
The country has so far recorded 2,227,367 COVID-19 cases with 2,010,271 recoveries and 35,145 deaths. — DVM, GMA News
