Labor leader Leody De Guzman to seek presidency in Eleksyon 2022

Labor leader Leodigario Quitain "Ka Leody '' De Guzman declared on Tuesday that he will seek the presidency in Eleksyon 2022.

In the online national convention of Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM), De Guzman accepted the nomination of the party-list for him to become their standard bearer for next year's national and local polls.

"Tinatanggap ko ang hamon niyo (I accept your challenge)," De Guzman, former senatorial candidate in 2019 and in 2016 polls, said during the convention.

Sonny Melencio, PLM chairman, also officially confirmed De Guzman's presidential bid for their party.

"We want everyone to know, tatakbo, lalaban si Ka Leody De Guzman as standard bearer or president ng PLM. (Ka Leody De Guzman will run as standard bearer or president of PLM)," said Melencio during the event.

An advocate of workers' rights, De Guzman is the chairman of Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino and founding member of Nagkaisa Labor Coalition.

He ran in the 2019 midterm elections for senator but conceded defeat after landing 38th place in the race.—LDF, GMA News
