Neri Colmenares files COC for senatorial bid in Eleksyon 2022

Bayan Muna chairman Neri Colmenares on Thursday filed his certificate of candidacy for senator in the May 2022 national elections.

He filed his COC before the Commission on Elections at the Harbor Garden Tent inside the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in Pasay City.

Colmenares vowed to focus on passing laws that will benefit the health sector in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Kailangan maisawata natin ang patuloy na pagragasa ng COVID at ipaglaban sa Senado ang ayuda, trabaho, edukasyon at katarungan," Colmenares said.

(We must curb the spread of COVID-19 and fight for pandemic assistance, jobs, education and justice in the Senate.)

A human rights lawyer, Colmenares earlier said his candidacy was endorsed by the Makabayan Coalition, which is composed of progressive party-list groups. 

Colmenares also ran for senator in the 2019 elections but lost.—AOL/VBL, GMA News
