Harry Roque files candidacy for senator in Eleksyon 2022

Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Monday filed his candidacy for senator in the 2022 elections.

Roque, who will run under Peoples' Reform Party (PRP), filed his candidacy on the last day of substitution period for next year's elections. He replaced Paolo Martelino.

"Ito na po ang huling araw ko bilang presidential spokesperson. Nais ko maging action man sa Senado [This is my last day as presidential spokesperson. I now want to be an action man in the Senate]," Roque said in his press briefing earlier in the day.

Roque ended his last press briefing with a video of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte endorsing his Senate bid for 2022 polls.

"Harry Roque will be our man of action in the Senate. Ibigay natin ang todo at buong suporta sa kanyang kandidatura," said Mayor Sara, daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Roque had earlier said he would only run in the 2022 elections if Mayor Duterte would also run. The younger Duterte is running for vice president.
