De Guzman: Put cocaine-using presidential bet in rehab

Presidential aspirant Leody De Guzman on Friday called on President Rodrigo Duterte to focus on the supplier of cocaine of the unnamed presidential candidate whom the Chief Executive said was using the illegal drug.

In a statement, De Guzman also said the aspirant who is allegedly using cocaine should be caught and undergo rehabilitation.

“Tiyak kilalang-kilala ni Duterte kung sino ang supplier ng kandidatong yan na nagpapasok ng cocaine sa bansa. Yan dapat ang pokusan para mahuli at matigil na,” De Guzman said on Twitter post.

[Duterte must know very well who is the supplier of that candidate who is importing cocaine into the country. That should be the focus to catch and stop it.]

“Kaysa i-tsismis lang, ipahuli na ang kandidatong yan para ipa-rehab,” he added.

[Instead of just gossiping, let that candidate go for rehabilitation.]

Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said substance abuse is not a ground for an election candidate's disqualification.

“Substance abuse is not among the disqualifications provided for by law,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said in a statement.

De Guzman, a labor leader, joined the call for Duterte to reveal the name of the cocaine user among the presidential aspirants.

“Kung totoo 'yan sana tukuyin na niya kung sino yun at arestuhin at yung nagsusupply ng cocaine by that tingin ko kilala niya yun kung sino,” de Guzman said on Sandra Aguinaldo’s “24 Oras” report on Friday.

[If that is true, he should identify who it is and arrest him and the one who supplies cocaine and by that I think he knows who it is.]
