Philippines gets 609,570 additional doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine

The Philippines received an additional 609,570 doses of government procured Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on Friday night.

According to the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19, the latest batch of vaccine doses landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 past 9 p.m.

The delivery came hours after the arrival of 1,306,000 doses of the Moderna, 2,805,000 Sputnik V shots, and first 5,000 doses of the single-shot Sputnik Light vaccine.

NTF special adviser Dr. Teodoro Herbosa said the fresh batch of vaccine will be used for the upcoming simultaneous vaccination activities from November 29 to December 1.

“The good news is that last week we vaccinated 5.5 million doses in one week, so I think we even reached about 1.2 million in a day and we had three days that had over 1 million, so I hope we can continue that this week,” he added.

Government data showed on Thursday that close to 33 million Filipinos are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The country was able to administer 1,154,131 COVID-19 doses on November 18. -- BAP, GMA News
