Isko Moreno, Ong take drug tests at PDEA, get negative results

Presidential aspirant Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and his running mate, Dr. Willie Ong took their drug tests on Thursday morning.

They subjected themselves to a drug test at the national headquarters of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Quezon City.

Their drug tests both yielded negative results. The PDEA Laboratory Service has certified that Domagoso and Ong tested negative for cocaine, methamphetamine, and other illegal substances.

“This is one way of submitting ourselves to the proper agencies of government and kami naman, ito rin ay isang maliit naming kaparaanan ni Doc Willie na sinusuportahan ang War on Drugs ng ating Pangulong Duterte being a candidate,” Domagoso said.

(This is also our simple way of showing our support to the Duterte administration's war against illegal drugs.)

“The people of our country deserve to know. They need to know. Isa sa mga sumisira sa ating lipunan ay ang droga (One thing that destroys our society is illegal drugs),” he added.

The drug tests of political aspirants came after President Rodrigo Duterte had revealed that a certain presidential aspirant is allegedly using cocaine. Duterte, however, did not identify the aspirant.

Moreno has said that the entire Aksyon Demokratiko slate will undergo voluntary drug tests.

He earlier said he was willing to submit himself to drug testing, saying that it is a “mater of public interest and a matter of principle.”

He reiterated that he would continue the Duterte administration’s campaign against illegal drugs and focus on going after drug lords and syndicates.

“Katulad ng nasimulan ni Pangulong Duterte, tayo ay nakikiisa rin doon sa kampanya ni Pangulong Duterte na labanan ang droga. At kung sakali, may awa ang Diyos, sa tulong ninyo, itutuloy natin yung War on Drugs,” he said.

(Just like what President Duterte had started, we are supporting his campaign against illegal drugs and if ever, in God's will and with your support, we will continue the war on drugs.) — RSJ, GMA News
