CBCP to release prayer for Eleksyon 2022 on November 28

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is set to release a prayer for the 2022 elections on November 28, 2021.

In a circular released on Thursday, CBCP President Archbishop Romulo Valles said the prayer would be launched on the first Sunday of Advent.

In the same circular, Valles said the “Prayer for 2022 Elections” was prepared by Archbishop Socrates B. Villegas and was adopted from the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting.

It focuses on the 16 values found in the preamble of the Constitution.

The Episcopal Commission on Liturgy however recommended that parishes pray the Oratio Imperata for Protection against the Covid-19 before the Mass, as parishes already have several prayers being recited during Sunday Masses.

The Prayer for the 2022 National and Local Elections meanwhile will be recited every first and third Sunday of the month, and the prayer for the Synod on Synodality will be on every second and fourth Sunday of the month.

“It is suggested that it be said after the post-communion prayer of the Mass,” Valles said.

The PPCRV previously asked the CBCP to endorse its “Prayer Power Campaign,” to urge the public "to collectively pray for a peaceful, credible, and transparent 2022 National and Local Elections." — DVM, GMA News
