LGUs encouraged to accommodate walk-ins during 3-day COVID-19 vax drive
A Department of Health (DOH) official on Monday encouraged local government units to accommodate walk-ins during the three-day nationwide vaccination drive against COVID-19.
"While maganda ang registration dahil maayos, we are encouraging LGUs na mag-accept ng walk-in lalo na yung senior citizens at most vulnerable," said DOH Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje in an interview on Dobol B TV.
(While pre-registration is more orderly, we are encouraging LGUs to accept walk-ins especially senior citizens and those most vulnerable.)
The three-day vaccination drive, which aims to inoculate nine million Filipinos against COVID-19, started on Monday, November 29, and a three-day follow-up being eyed on December 15 to 17.
Cabotaje, who heads the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC), said the November 29 to December 1 vaccination drive is open to those who will take their first and second dose.
Senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals can also have their booster shots during the three-day campaign.
"Aayusin lang ng LGUs kung saan yung mga linya [The LGUs should establish orderly queues]," she said.
For the event, vaccine doses from AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Moderna and Sputnik V will be used, according to Cabotaje.
For Johnsons & Johnsons, the DOH official said the government is expecting a delivery by December.
For the massive health undertaking, Cabotaje said the military and the police, as well as private sector groups, have vowed to send healthcare delegation to areas where there are not enough vaccinators. --KBK, GMA News
