Philippines' 235 new COVID-19 cases lowest since May 2020; active tally down to 10K


The Philippines on Tuesday reported 235 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the nationwide tally to 2,836,868.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), active cases decreased to 10,526.

Of the active cases, a total of 4,104 are mild, 659 are asymptomatic, 1,868 are severe, and 393 are in critical condition.

 

 

The DOH also announced that total recoveries climbed to 2,775,991 with 780 new ones while 10 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 50,351.

Five duplicate cases were also removed from the total case count while 165 cases, of which 161 are recoveries, that were found to be negative were also removed.

Four laboratories were not operational while eight failed to submit data on time.

The latest data from the DOH also showed that 23% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 13% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.

Data also showed that 24% of the ICU beds in the National Capital Region are in use while 16% of the ventilators are occupied.

The DOH earlier announced that all regions in the country are now at minimal risk for COVID-19.—LDF, GMA News
