Philippines receives over 1M doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine from Germany


The Philippines received on Friday 1,020,500 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine donated by the German government.

According to the National Task Force Against COVID-19, the first batch of 1,020,500 doses of Moderna vaccine landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 before 4 p.m.

Hours later, the additional 940,800 doses of the Moderna vaccine also donated by Germany arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 past 10 p.m.

NTF chief implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. thanked the German government for the donation channeled through the COVAX facility.

According to the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC), the country has administered a total 100,019,137 of COVID-19 vaccine doses nationwide as of December 16.

The NVOC said at least 55,975,001 first doses have been administered, while 43,029,348 (55.78% of target population) were second doses and 1,014,788 were booster shots.
