SC issues TRO on Comelec denial of three party-list groups' registrations

The Supreme Court has issued temporary restraining orders (TRO) on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) rulings denying the registration of three party-list groups.

The groups whose petitions for TRO were granted include Ang Tinig ng Seniors, Igorot Warriors International and Alliance for Resilience, Sustainability and Empowerment (Arise).

According to the three TROs all dated December 17, the Supreme Court said that the petitions seeking TROs or status quo ante orders lodged by the three party-list groups "appear to be sufficient in form and substance."

Likewise, the same TROs granted to three party-list groups also mandated the Comelec to file a comment on the High Court's decision within a non-extendible period of 10 days.

The raffle for the order of the party-list on the ballot, however, was already conducted last December 14.

The three groups were not included in the raffle.

GMA News Online sought for Comelec's comment on how the TROs will affect the raffle but the poll body is yet to answer as of posting time. —NB, GMA News
