PNP: Typhoon Odette death toll climbs to 211


The Philippine National Police said on Monday that 211 people were killed due to the onslaught of Typhoon Odette.

In its update, the PNP said 129 fatalities were reported in the Central Visayas, 41 in Caraga, 24 Western Visayas, 10 in Northern Mindanao, six Eastern Visayas, and one in Zamboanga.

A total of 239 people were injured, with 52 missing.

The PNP said 71 areas were flooded.

A total of 3,164 areas had no electricity and 1,897 localities had no access to telecommunication services.

According to the PNP, a total of 1,013 passengers were stranded in seaports and airports.

State weather bureau PAGASA said Odette exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday. — DVM, GMA News
