Taiwan donates 6K kilos of relief goods to Odette-ravaged areas


Over 6,300 kilograms of assorted relief goods from Taiwan government for the victims of Typhoon Odette in Cebu, Bohol, and Negros Oriental arrived on Saturday, Christmas Day.

A Taiwan C-130 Aircraft bringing the donations arrived at the Brigadier General Benito N. Ebuen Air Base in Lapu-Lapu City, and the load was received by the Philippine Air Force (PAF), through the Air Mobility Command and other PAF units, in coordination with the Taipei and Manila Economic and Cultural Office and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Region 7.

 

On Sunday, the SWD Field Office VII received the relief goods in a ceremonial turn-over at the Mactan-Benito Ebuen Air Base.

Donated items from Taiwan included tents, water filters, food rations, water, canned tuna, instant noodles, and cookies, DSWD noted.

Earlier, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that the reported death toll due to Typhoon Odette continued to rise, reaching 378 as of Sunday.

Odette affected 3,953,880 people or 1,012,997 families in Mimaropa, Region 5, Region 6, Region 7, Region 8, Region 9, Region 10, Region 11, Region 12, CARAGA, and BARMM. —LBG, GMA News
