Palace: 7 million doses administered during 2nd round of nationwide COVID-19 inoculations
Malacañang said Monday that the government exceeded its target of administering seven million COVID-19 doses during the second round of national vaccinations from December 15 to 23.
Acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles said 7,497,802 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered during the vaccination days despite the disruption caused by Typhoon Odette.
"We thank our kababayans for their cooperation and for the steps they have taken to protect themselves, their families, and their communities," Nograles said.
"We likewise commend our medical frontliners, vaccinators, and volunteers for their sacrifice, dedication and service to the country."
Region 4A posted the highest total of cumulative jabs during the period with 1,244,191 million, followed by Region 3 with 919,822, and Region 6 with 658,805.
In addition, Nograles said Region 1 recorded the most significant improvement in COVID-19 vaccinations with 561,858 jabs, which is way above its target of administering 202,224 jabs for the second round of vaccinations.
Region 2 also achieved 232.57 percent of their target, while Region 10 achieved 173.27 percent.
"With the looming threat of the Omicron variant, we must continue to be vigilant and alert by observing the minimum public health standards on top of getting vaccinated," Nograles said.
The Duterte administration is looking to fully vaccinate 54 million Filipinos against COVID-19 by year-end, 77 million Filipinos by the first quarter of 2022, and 90 million by June 30, 2022 when President Rodrigo Duterte steps down from office.
