More than 300,000 more Pfizer vaccines delivered to Philippines

The Philippines received on Tuesday 367,380 additional Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine doses, which were procured by the national government.

Interviewed by state media PTV, National Task Force against COVID-19 adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa disclosed that there were already more than 205 million doses of various vaccines that landed in the Philippines for the COVID-19 immunization program.

Herbosa added that the Philippines also received over 59 million doses of Pfizer vaccines.

"Thirty-nine million [doses] procured by the government and 20 million [doses] were donated to us," said Herbosa, who was present at the arrival of the additional Pfizer vaccines at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

To prepare for a possible Omicron-driven surge, Herbosa said the national government is also fast tracking the booster doses and second doses for the eligible population.

To date, government figures showed that more than 47 million Filipinos already received complete doses of vaccines versus COVID-19 while more than 1.4 million Filipinos were injected with additional doses. -- Consuelo Marquez/BAP, GMA News
