LGUs pitching in for Typhoon Odette survivors —ULAP exec

Several provinces, cities, towns, and  barangays are pouring in resources to help the survivors of Typhoon Odette, an official of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) said on Thursday.

Interviewed on Dobol B TV, ULAP national president Quirino Governor Dakila Cua said their member-leagues in local governments are giving donations to affected provinces.

“Yung ULAP po, through its member-leagues, of course po, kasi yung mga league of provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays talagang dagsa ang kanilang effort to help those na nasalanta ng Odette,” he said.

According to Cua, the Quirino government gave P1.5 million to affected LGUs.

Cua expects that the assistance from different local governments would light up the holiday season for the typhoon survivors.

As of Wednesday, a total of 397 people were reported dead, 83 remained missing, and 1,147 injured due to Odette, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.

On Wednesday, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) released P4.85 billion to cover the financial assistance for survivors of Typhoon Odette.

In total, the DBM has released P6.85 billion to assist typhoon-stricken LGUs, as of December 28, 2021. —LBG, GMA News
