Palace allows fewer onsite workers in gov’t offices under Alert Level system


Malacañang has tweaked the policy on setting a minimum number of onsite workers in government offices to allow the public continuous access to services under the Alert Level system amid the recent surge in COVID-19 cases.

Memorandum Circular No. 94, released by the Office of the President and signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and takes affect immediately, provides requirements and procedures for reducing onsite workforce in government offices under the Alert Level system.

“With the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in the country, there are reports that government offices are finding it difficult to comply with the minimum onsite workforce provided in the Alert Level System and MC No. 93 due to the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases among their personnel, and the need to observe isolation and quarantine protocols for such personnel and their close contacts,” the MC No. 94. read.

In particular, under Alert Level 2, government agencies and offices shall remain fully operational but shall at least 80% onsite workforce.

Under Alert Level 3, the required onsite workforce in government offices will be reduced to 60% while under Alert Level 4 the number of workers is further reduced to 40%.

Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal have been placed under Alert Level 3 from January 3 until January 15, while Laguna is under the same Alert Level from January 7 to January 15.

Fourteen more cities and provinces were placed under Alert Level 3 starting January 9 until 15 due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday logged 21,819 new COVID-19 cases increasing the nationwide COVID-19 tally to 2,910,664 - the highest since September 12, which reported 21,411 cases. -- BAP, GMA News
