Comelec eyes airing of promulgation of decision on DQ cases vs. Bongbong

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) plans to air the promulgation of the decision on the disqualification cases against presidential aspirant and former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., poll commissioner Rowena Guanzon said Tuesday.

“On or before [January] 17 the Commission on Elections’ First Division will promulgate its resolution on the [disqualification] cases versus Marcos Jr.  If not too risky, we will read it in the Session Hall on livestream,” Guanzon tweeted.

On Monday, Guanzon, who presided over the preliminary conference on the disqualification cases versus Marcos last Friday, said the petitions were already submitted for resolution and assigned to a commissioner who will write the decision.

“Raffle of two Marcos Jr. cases done. The cases are submitted for Resolution and has been assigned to a ponente,” she said in another tweet.

So far, the Comelec junked two petitions against Marcos’ candidacy—the one filed by Tiburcio Marcos and the other filed by Danilo Lihaylihay.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez recently said there is one petition to cancel Marcos’ certificate of candidacy for president and four disqualification cases against the former senator which are still pending with the poll body. — RSJ, GMA News
